Police are investigating following an incident of wilful fire-raising in Fife earlier this month.

The incident happened in Parkside Street, Rosyth at around 11.50pm on October 3 when the area around the front door of the property was set alight.

The Scottish Fife and Rescue Service (SFRS) attended and the blaze was quickly extinguished. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

A joint investigation was undertaken by Police Scotland and SFRS and it was determined that fire had been started deliberately.

Police are now investigating this incident, which has caused understandable distress to the 30-year-old female occupant of the property.

Although this is believed to have been an isolated incident, the motive behind it is currently unknown. With this in mind officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh of Dunfermline CID said: “Fortunately no one was injured as a result of this fire, however it could have had much more serious consequences.
